Born in Kildare, Ireland, in 1979 to father Phillip McEntee and Mother Belinda McEntee. Carl is a fifth generation horseman. His father the late Phillip McEntee was champion Jockey in 1969 and a successful trainer until his passing in 1998. His Grandfather was Kennel Huntsman for the Meath and Lowth hunt and also a National Hunt Trainer, his Great Grandfather was again another trainer and his father before that. So steeped in thoroughbred history, that all four of Phillip's sons are heavily involved in the industry. Trainers / Owners/ Farm Managers.
Educated in England at Desborough Grammar School and then Cambridge, Carl was already deeply consumed by racing . Having ridden as an amateur on both the flat and national hunt in his late teens, Carl embarked on a journey that would lead to the inception of Ballysax Bloodstock. Possessing a global understanding of the Thoroughbred industry, Carl head's Ballysax Bloodstock LLC as Managing Partner. He has spent the past twenty-five years working in various capacities in Ireland, England, and the United States. He has worked as a Jockey (UK / IRE), Assistant Trainer (UK), Farm Manager (KY), General Manager (PA), and Director (MD) with the industry’s leading operations. He has previously served as a board member of the PHBA and MHBA, and is currently the Vice President of the KTFMC.

* Ballysax Bloodstock lead the way at the 2020 keeneand January Sale. The highest Priced horse sold on day one was Zia. Selling to Mill Ridge Farms, Nicoma Bloodstock for $335,000. Ballysax was top 10 consignor and Leading consignor by average!!
* $1,400,000.00!!!!! Ballysax Bloodstock in Just its second year sold the dam of Dennis's Moment at the Fasig-tipton November Sale. Transplendid was sold for client Geoff Nixon and his farm Grantley Acres.
At this sale ballysax was the 6th leading consignor by gross and the 5th leading consignor by average.
* As agent for many clients last year brought great success in the sales arena. One True Kiss, purchased for $250,000 in foal to Speightstown. The resulting foal was sold at Fasig-Tipton November sale for $335,000.
Tensas Cowgirl was purchased also in foal to Speightstown for $80,000. Both the mare (i/f to Classic Empire) and the foal were sold in Keeneland November for a combined $285,000.00 a 163% net return on investment.
*Living the Life.. Purchased as a three year old from Jamie Osborne's stable for $50,000.00 (US) in Febuary 2014. At the time she was a dual winner of $15,000.00(US) in purses. She would go on to win in excess of $1,000,000.00. Her wins included G2 Matsers Stakes in 2014 and 2015. The G3 All American Stakes (against the boys), The All-Weather Filly and Mare Sprint and the Camilla Urso Stakes. She was G1 placed in the Santa Margarita, G2 placed in the Masters Stakes, Santa Maria Stakes and the Great Lady M Stakes.
